Deliveries to the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland
We aim to process orders within one working day of receipt. Packages weighing less than 250g are generally sent by standard (untracked) post. Generally, An Post deliver within one or two days and, happily, it has been our experience that the majority of packages arrive next day. However, there may be unavoidable delays during peak periods. Bulky packages or that weigh more than 250g are sent by Fastway courier.
As stated above, goods sent by standard post will generally arrive within 1-3 days of order. Goods sent by courier usually take 2-3 days. If you require goods more urgently, please select the Next Day service.
Next Day delivery is offered via An Post’s ‘Express’ service and is not available for sewing machines or certain heavy or bulky products. Orders must be placed before 3pm, Monday – Friday. The service may not be available for Saturday deliveries, depending on your local Post Office. Prices range from €10 – €14 and are calculated by weight.
Our shipping rates are changing. From 1st May 2025, Sew Irish will be scrapping the €0.75 packing and handling fee and moving to a flat rate shipping fee of €5.95 per order. Orders over €60 will still qualify for free shipping and a lower rate will apply to the smallest items that can be sent by An Post letter post.
Sewing Patterns
If your order includes Burda, New Look, McCalls, or Vogue sewing patterns, please note that they are ‘mail order’ items and are ordered individually for you from the UK. Delivery usually takes up to 10 working days, but can take longer during promotions. If your order contain items beside the pattern, we would normally delay shipping until the pattern is received. However, we will always give you the option to receive the rest of your order separately, on payment of a supplemental shipping fee for the pattern. Simplicity and Butterick patterns are supplied from stock and are usually shipped within one working day.
United Kingdom (Mainland)
We regret that, due to changes to VAT accounting procedures following Brexit, we are no longer able to ship to the UK.
Returns
In the case that the value of your order qualifies it for free delivery, please be aware that we may, at our discretion, deduct the original value of shipping from any refund for items returned (unless faulty), if the return of those items brings the total value of the order below the free delivery threshold. Where an item is returned because it is faulty or because we have made an error in the order, we will refund your return postage.
